Cleaning out closets and making relationship misunderstandings public is usually for the common folk, as big public figures usually try to handle their relationship problems privately when they get them.

Not for National Resistance Movement, Vice Chairman Hajji Moses Kigongo and his partner Olive Zaituni Kigongo who are locked in a property wrangle over Mosa Court, emanating from their domestic misunderstandings.

Kigongo has actually said he and Olive, the Chairperson of the National Chamber of Commerce and industry, were never married, leaving us wondering how she got the Kigongo name.

The two own Mosa Court Apartments on Speke Road, just adjacent to the Kampala Sheraton Hotel. Hajji Kigongo owns 85 per cent stake while Olive owns 15 per cent.

Olive filed a petition at the High Court on Thursday January 15, through Kwesigabo, Bamwine and Walubiri Company advocates, asking court to wind up Mosa Court because of irreconcilable differences between her and her husband.

Kigongo through his lawyers Muwema, Company Advocates and Solicitors dismissed Olive’s claim as being his wife, because they were never married in the first place, but they are just shareholders in Mosa Court. The two have been living together since 1997 and they have two daughters.

Olive told court that she has been kept in the dark about the affairs of Mosa Court since 2011, but Kigongo says that Olive had mismanaged the company finances to the tune of unexplained losses amounting to Shs5.6bn in the said year and he took over running the business because Olive had been running it down with her lavish spending.

Hajji Kigongo says Olive’s petition is a domestic misunderstanding disguised as a company matter.

Hajji Kigongo has been linked to having an affair with NTV news anchor Faridah Nakazibwe, though we cannot verify the claim at the moment.
