Thousands of mourners turned up to pay their last respects to fallen singer AK47 (real name Emmanuel Mayanja) as he was being laid to rest in his ancestral home of Kalangalo in Mityana District on Thursday afternoon.

President Museveni, in a condolence speech read for him by state Minister for ICT, Nyombi Tembo, regretted that the country had lost such a talented young man, and he offered Shs10m in mabugo, to go towards the completion of constructing AK 47’s house in Seguku.

“I have delivered the money in cash,” Nyombi said, handing over the money to AK 47’s father Mzee Gerald Mayanja.

Already, musicians and other stakeholders in the entertainment industry had made donations and pledges, totaling to Shs27m for the completion of the house that the fallen singer was constructing, so that his widow Margaret Kiweesi and three children can have a home. Ghetto President Bobi Wine brought up the idea of completing the house and donated Shs5m. Promoter Balaam Barugahare will oversee the project.

Meanwhile, Police informed mourners that they were holding one person (Stephen Kisenyi, the manager of Dejavu Bar, in whose washrooms AK 47 fell on Monday, shortly before he was pronounced dead) to assist with investigations.

Police boss Kale Kayihura gave mabugo of Shs3m and his representative at the burial promised the family that Police would get to the root cause of AK 47’s death.

The post mortem revealed that the singer passed away after obtaining a wound on his head. What is not clear yet is if the wound was inflicted upon him by someone or it was a result of a fall in the washrooms.

Mzee Mayanja, also father to musicians, Jose Chameleone, Pallaso and Weasel requested whoever has any information regarding the death of his last born son to come forward and divulge it to Police.
