monalisa fireMonalisa Bar in Mengo was razed to the ground by fire last night.

The hangout joint went up in flames close to midnight and there are conflicting reports on what caused the fire.

Some reports indicates that the fire started in the kitchen while others say that it was caused by an electric short circuit. Security at the place said they saw sparks on the electric poles.

There was pandemonium in the place when the fire broke out, with patrons and staff alike scampering for dear life. A few people who sustained injuries were rushed to the nearby Mengo Hospital.

Part of the bar was built using grass thatch roofing and hence little could be saved.

Eye witnesses say the Police fire brigade arrived an hour after the incident to put out the fire.

Just three years ago, another bar, Ground Zero in Wandegeya was also gutted by fire.
