The High Court has this afternoon ruled that government mistreated Gen. David Sejusa in refusing to retire him while yet taking away his tools of work (uniform, housing transport), not deploying him for over one and a half years, and not paying him his salary over time.

Justice Margeret Oumo Oguli ruled that because of this, Gen. Sejusa is entitled to constructive discharge from the army, and she also ordered government to pay him Shs 750 million in compensation.

“Gen. Sejusa has served for so long in the police and army; all the people he served with in the high command are now retired and have not been any threat to security as a result of the same. The state refusing to retire Gen. Sejusa is a glaring act of discrimination against him,” Justice stated in her ruling.”

Saying that Gen. Sejusa has dependents to look after and yet he has not been receiving his salary and other benefits, the judge ordered government to pay Sejusa a compensation of Shs 750m, all his outstanding salary arrears as well as retirement benefits.
