One person confirmed dead as heavy truck fails to break at Nalya roundabout

One person has been confirmed dead this morning in a fatal accident that occurred at Nalya Roundabout along the Northern Bypass.

The truck, reg.no. UAA 173K was heavily loaded with pavers from Nalukolongo heading to Banda Shell petrol station which is under renovation when it failed to break and fell off the road.

Kira Division officer in charge of traffic Jackie Chelimo said the accident could have been caused by a mechanical fault in the heavily loaded vehicle though further investigations for the cause are being carried out.

Chelimo also confirmed that there were seven people aboard the truck identified as  Musa Wandega, Robert Luyima, Jacob Obok, Peter Okello, June Oboo and Justus Desimany.

However the deceased’s names were not identified as he had no identification and the victims had been rushed to Mulago Hospital.
