Opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye has emplowered students and Makerere University to defy President Museveni’s order to close the university.

After a day-long strike that started with lecturers refusing to teach unless their salary arrears were met that later turned violent when students organised a counter strike demanding that that they receive lecturers, President Museveni ordered for the closure of the university “to protect people’s lives and property.”

Besigye then took to Twitter urging students and staff to “defy the ridiculous order.”
