In a firm spirit of solidarity, journalists this morning gathered at the Kasese Central Division police where former NBS news anchor and KTN journalist Joy Biira was presented before police for interrogations. A social media campaign #FreeJoy trended on twitter asking for her release

AIGP, Andrew Kaweesi says the KTN journalist had been arrested by police in connection with her suspicious conduct during Sunday operation in the palace.

He revealed that she tried to conceal her identity in the restricted area and was using different kind of equipment unlike other media persons that covered the event.

Biira had gone for her traditional marriage ceremony in  Kasese before the scuffle brought her out around. She shared photos and videos of the events then it was reported that she had been arrested. Doreen was arrested with  four others from her uncle’s house. Police is processing her release bond which will set her free today.
