Judge who granted Besigye bail transferred to Mpigi

Justice Wilson Musaru Musene the high court judge who granted bail to leading opposition politics figure Dr. Kizza Besigye in July has been transferred to Mpigi.

Justice Wilson granted Besigye bail after a successful application by the former presidential aspirant over treason in the aftermath of the February presidential elections which he lost to incumbent President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. 

Musene had been the helm  of the criminal division at Kampala high court before being transferred to the new high court circuit in Mpigi. He has replaced justice Elizabeth who has been transferred to Kampala’s Criminal and family divisions of the High Court.



According to the Principle judge Dr. Yorokamu Bamwine, the changes are stipulated in an administrative circular dated November 29.

Also transferred are Justice John Wilson Kwesiga head of high Court land division to  head of criminal division. He has been replaced by Andrew Bashaija in the land division office.

Mpigi is one of the recent High court circuit others in Iganga, Mukono, Hoima and Mubende.
