Fred Muwema’s legal battle with Facebook to reveal identity of the controversial anonymous people/person behind the TVO Facebook page has come to a conclusion. The Irish court agreed with Facebook to conceal the identity of the characters behind the page.

However, lawyer Fred Muwema’s efforts did not all go to waste. The court ordered Facebook to delete the TVO post that angered the lawyer within 14 days. Case closed!

For starters, the legal battle between Mr Muwema and Facebook started after TVO’s controversial claims that Fred Muwema  had been bribed  Shs900 million to stage manage a break in at his chambers in Kololo so as to avail the state affidavits against the president and electoral commission in the election petition case that was filed by former presidential candidate Amama Mbabazi  in February 2016 election.

Fred Muwema took Facebook to court so that they could be ordered to reveal the identity of TVO however court cited that the move could endanger the account owner’s life and Fred Muwema’s “good name” could be protected by simply deleting the post.

Facebook protested the order, laying evidence of gross human rights violations by Uganda and previous requests by Uganda Communications Commission to Facebook to hand over TVO to the Ugandan state.

TVO remains elusive to date.
