FDC strong woman Salaamu Musumba yesterday bounced back into active political limelight after registering a victory in a court appeal against Hon. Rehema Watongola throwing the Kamuli Municipality MP seat vacant.

While speaking this morning on NBS TV, Musumba revealed that she encountered a lot of challenges in Busoga. She stated that the community is very superstitious, a thing that forced her to give up her office chair after she would find several cuts and medicines planted on it every day! She noted that the Baganda are more progressive individuals who celebrate success of others instead of pulling them down.

“Busoga society is a disgusting community! When you buy a car, your neighbors in the village will all hate you. In Buganda, they will come congratulate you upon working hard! Am one of them, am a fighter with them. I used to live under fear of being poisoned! I had to give up my office chair because every single day I would found it cut everyday; medicine here, medicine there! I let it go!” she stated.

Having served in the 6th and 7th parliament, Salaamu also states that she is not about to leave politics.

“I love this game of politics! I have transformed lives, and I feel there is something I haven’t done!” Salaam. She stated that she  will stay in Kamuli politics until she is 75 years of age!

The Court of Appeal  threw out Kamuli Municipality MP Rehema Tiwuwe Watongola, out of Parliament on grounds that she lacks the required academic qualifications equivalent of senior six when she was nominated to contest for the elections.

Three Justices led by Richard Buteera concurred with Jinja High Court Judge Geoffrey Namundi that Watongola failed to explain her academic papers after being disowned by Busoga University, which she claims, awarded them.

The judges then dismissed the appeal, ordered Watongola to pay FDC’s Salaamu Musumba costs, and also ordered that the Electoral Commission should conduct fresh elections.
