They say real recognises real.  Yesterday Onyango received a surprise gift from Egypt’s legendary goalkeeper Essam El Hadary. The legendary keeper sent Denis Onyango a special souvenir that Denis will treasure for years to come. He sent him his AFCON jersey!

“Special gifts from special people. Egyptian record breaker Essam El Hadary sent me this souvenir from AFCON 2017 in Gabon where he became the oldest player to feature at the Africa Cup of Nations at 44. Be Inspired to Aspire”, the overwhelmed Onyango posted on his Facebook page.

In case you missed out on AFCON drama in Uganda Cranes camp, officials and players were torn between retaining the jerseys as national souvenir or players keeping them. The rift set tongues wagging in the camp.

Denis Onyango got the surprise after the shot-stopper had just won his first ever CAF African Super cup title last Saturday. His side Mamelodi Sundowns edged 1-0 against offensive DR Congo’s TP Mazembe Englebert. Sundowns got a late penalty in the 83rd minute and it was comfortably converted by defender Ricardo Nascimento.
