It is murder mayhem in the country as policemen attached to the Flying Squad have shot and killed a toddler Viola Nakuwuka, 3, who was riding on her mother’s back in Mityana District.

The mother of the deceased, Diana Nabakooza who is a resident of Guluma village, Butayunja Sub County and another resident, Ivan Kito, also sustained injuries and were rushed to Mityana Hospital to receive treatment.

According to an eye witness who prefers to remain anonymous, the victims met their assailants on their way home when three policemen opened fire on them killing the child instantly.

The witness also added that the alleged policemen had been contacted by a village witchdoctor only known as Mr Kalumba who wanted protection against threats of lynching from residents.

Fred Kigima, the Regional Police Commander confirmed the death of Nakawuka and contended that the Flying Squad policemen acted on their own and the police will bring them to book.

“We’re conducting full investigations and so far, we have already identified one of the suspects but we can’t disclose them at this point,” Kigima said.
