Figures don’t lie. Three weeks ago, Dr. Stella Nyanzi started off the pads for girls campaign and many did not pay much attention. Her resilience has paid off.  The online campaign on go fund me page has so far raised $2662 ( about 9.5m) from 72 people. It has been marked as a trending campaign.

“In only twenty days of existence, we gave both reuseable and disposable sanitary pads to over 2,000 schoolgirls in the four districts of Masaka, Mbale, Ngora and Mukono. We formed a Working Group of 40 members, including volunteers for fieldwork. We partnered with a range of stakeholders. We identified four local producers of re-useable sanitary pads in Uganda and numerous brands of disposable pads available in the local market. We raised several millions of Uganda Shillings, and thousands of United States Dollars”, she revealed.

She stated that the team is taking a break to access their work methods.

“After three weeks of collecting and distributing sanitary pads to school girls in Uganda, the Working Group at #Pads4GirlsUg is taking a break from operations and retreating to assess our performance, processes, products, tools and outputs. We will also plan for a more effective low-cost mode of delivering sanitary pads to those in most need.”

Dr. Stella Nyanzi is indeed a force to reckon with!
