Woman in critical condition after Umeme transformer falls on her car along Dewinton Road

A woman, identified as Rose Kayinga Kigozi is in critical condition, fighting for her life after an Umeme Ltd electricity transformer collapsed and hit her car along Dewinton Road in Kampala this morning.

According to her son Richard Kigozi who rushed to the scene following the accident, his mother had left him at the nearby Walusimbi Garage, only to learn that she had got an accident minutes later.

Kigozi said police took a while to arrive at the scene but they managed to rescue her from the car, a Toyota Voxy van, registration number UAT 591S and she was rushed to Mulago Hospital.

Kigozi says she has been but on oxygen and has also sustained a broken arm and rib.
