Dr Besigye who was expected to address a rally in Isingiro district was arrested at Ntungamo – Isingiro border by the Police. The FDC leader Kizza Besigye was arrested after he insisted on going to address the residents of Isingiro on their land rights.
Dr. Kizza Besigye and other opposition leaders kicked off the campaign about a month back and successfully held a few rallies in Teso region. In several interviews, he has maintained that most people are only left with land as their main asset.
The issue of land grabbing is widespread.
