Chris Obore, the Director of Communications, Parliament believes the Office of the Speaker is the most accessible in the land. He says the Speaker receives calls from people of all walks of life. Now, to the girls and dudes who keep rejecting our calls, what is your purpose in life?

Back to our story, Chris Obore was responding to claims that the Speaker was not briefed about the switching off of unverified Simcards because she was “not accessible”. You remember, the Parliament had called for the Simcard registration to be extended by not more than a year. However, ICT minister Frank Tumwebaze defied the stand and ordered for the implementation of the deadline which has affected some of you.

While appearing on NBS TV Morning Breeze Show Chris Obore, Director Communications stated,“What happened means there is a dialogue problem between the arms of government. Kadaga is very accessible. I have never seen a public office which is more accessible than Speaker’s office. Speaker doesn’t believe that someone must answer her phone calls. She even receives calls from peasants. Saying the Speaker wasn’t briefed because she wasn’t accessible is a big lie.”

Before the switch off, Parliament ordered UCC to extend the deadline to enable all citizens with and those in the Diaspora to register. The government chief whip, Ruth Nankabirwa has too backed the minister saying he only performed his role.

“The minister acted on collective responsibility, he didn’t disrespect the Speaker. There was lack of communication because a lot was happening. Parliament is not at loggerheads with the Cabinet. Parliament will be briefed on Tuesday”, she stated.
