Nearly 90 lecturers, administrators and students of Makerere University face arrest in connection to the alteration of marks. The looming arrest follows a directive the university management issued to police.

A letter dated 7th September from the Academic Registrar Alfred Namoah Masikye to the chief security Officer Jackson Muchuguzi asks police to apprehend all those involved in altering of marks.

In the letter, Namoah instructs police to refer to an earlier communication about persons involved in the change of marks on the results management system and provides a list of 44 staff and 44 students to be prosecuted in liaison with Acting Director, legal affairs.

He has also directed them to provide progressive reports on the actions taken on each of the listed people in a period of one month.

Earlier while appearing before the ad hoc Committee investigating examination irregularities the students named various lecturers and administrators for aiding them in changing marks at a fee.

Muchuguzi has confirmed that he has received the letter and is waiting for further instructions   from the national joint security agencies to effect the request by the University management.
