The Jinja woman MP Loy Katali yesterday found a hard time explaining to residents that she had used all the consultative money to bribe support for age limit bill, a move that did not yield results. This followed a morning incident where dozens of people stormed her house asking for a share on the Shs29m that parliament gave her.

But in her response to irate citizens, the NRM legislator said she had used all the money to bribe voters in different parishes and they have even refused to support age limit removal.

“They were given money, but they sat back and refused. They fear people because majority are for Togikwatako. If Museveni has intelligence, let him use his it to find out what is on ground. Go back to the [presidential election] results of 2016, they will tell you the position of Jinja… How many sub-counties did the president win against Besigye? Jinja is for FDC and you can’t expect a yes [for the age limit bill],) she explained while panting.

Katali added that during her consultative meetings, over 90 per cent of the people in Jinja insisted on Togikwatako, even when NRM supporters should have been the majority in the area.

But angry residents, who consisted of both opposition and the ruling party members insisted that the legislator had received a lot of money and should give at least Shs10,000 to each of them.

Police, who swung to action to save the MP’s life negotiated with the angry youth and elders to calm down and let Katali leave her home for Kampala in peace.
