Despite the ministry of health calling upon striking doctors to immediately get back to work as government continues to revise and finding solutions to their demands, the doctors have failed to call it off the industrial action.

While appearing on NBS TV weekly show FrontLine, the government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo admitted that the health sector is in a crisis and an urgent action has to be done.

“There is a crisis in the health sector due to the strike by doctors. Medical facilities can’t function fully if doctors aren’t there to supervise the rest of the people,” Ofwono stated.

However, he blamed opposition politicians whom he claims are trying to politicise the situation saying;  “It’s very interesting that the people saying government facilities don’t have personnel are the ones clinging to these facilities. If the government isn’t meeting your needs, pack up and leave”.
