Ahead of today’s Tuesday meeting between the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee, and President Yoweri Museveni on issues of the Amendment article 102b that seek to scrap the presidential age limit, members on the committee are divided.

Togikwatako MPs

According to the Committee Chairperson, Jacob Oboth Oboth, the meeting will help directly get Museveni’s views on the matter saying;  “You are aware several reports quote the President as having said he will not contest again. So we need to ask him whether those statements are true and it is actually him who made them, and whether he has changed his mind and why?”

However, for the Busiro East County legislator Medard Lubega Ssegona it’s a waste of time and resources because the entire public knows the stand of the president.

“We know what he has been saying especially in relation to the bill and with that the committee shouldn’t be wasting its time and resources in visiting the president,” Ssegona said.

The Committee has 29- legislators lined up to go to State House at 3pm to consult Museveni as one of the people in support of the proposed amendment.
