Police in Kassanda are investigating after a woman, pretending to be a medical officer, abducted a three-day-old baby from Kiganda Health Centre IV.

The baby, born to Muhindo Joachim and Nalubowa Ruth of Katosi Cell in Kiganda Town Council, Mukono district, was admitted to the health centre on 12 March 2026 due to complications. She was treated in the Intensive Care Unit and later moved to the postnatal ward on 14 March, awaiting discharge.

On 15 March, an unidentified woman entered the ward dressed as a medical officer. She attended to patients and reviewed their treatment notes before approaching the baby’s bed. She told the mother that the baby’s condition had worsened and required medication that had not yet been given.
