Kenya has descended to level of Uganda — Raila Odinga says after ban of live TV, radio broadcast of his ‘swearing-in’

Former Kenyan opposition presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, who, today was sworn in as the ‘people’s president’ says the decision to switch off Kenyan TV stations “confirms that Kenya has descended to the level of Uganda.”

Today morning several television stations including KTN, Citizen, NTV, Inooro TV were switched off on the free to air platforms after they broadcast the arrival of opposition National Super Alliance (Nasa) supporters at Uhuru Park in Nairobi for Odinga’s swear in as ‘people’s president’.

Last year, the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) banned live coverage of political activities in the country during debate on age limit bill that paved way for President Museveni to seek for reelection in 2021.

UCC, also switched off social media during the 2016 general elections.
