First-year Makerere University student drowns in University swimming pool

John Paul Mirimi a first year student at Makerere has been reported dead after drowning in the University swimming pool. According to University police, Paul who was from jogging later went to freshen up at the swimming pool but had little experience in swimming.

Reports indicate that immediately Paul entered the water at about 5:30am and then failed to re-surface.  Friends alerted the Police at the university when Mirimu did not resurface after jumping into the pool.
