During the vigil of the assassinated AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi, the president tasked IGP Kale Kayihura to ‘clean-up the Police’. Over a year later, the former IGP Kale Kayihura is in detention with over 20 District Police Commanders (DPC).

While appearing on NBS Frontline show yesterday, Director of Police Political Commissar, Asan Kasingye stated that the force indeed needs a clean-up.

“It’s true like the president said, there are still some bad elements in police and we need to clean up our house,”  Kasingye stated before adding; “Take for example those who ask for money from the public. How do you hope to fight corruption with such tendencies?”

Kasingye also applauded Museveni’s  address on security saying; “The president gave a holistic overview of what needs to be done to handle the security of this country. The vigilance he’s talking about will come when we have trust. The technical issues he talked about are also very important.”
