Kenyans on social media have disowned their deputy president, William Ruto after he said that he admired his Ugandan counterpart, Yoweri Museveni.

Ruto was speaking at an extraordinary conversation with Uganda’s business and policy leaders at Serena Hotel on Sunday morning when he said that,“I admire President Yoweri Museveni. He is our father in the region. He believes in us much as he is the president of Uganda, his heart is with us.”

Ruto added that “although sometimes I disagree with President Museveni on some issues, believe me, the man with a hat is passionate about matters East Africa and that’s why I am his strong supporter.”

However, back home, Ruto’s comments sparked a social media outrage causing Kenyans to disown him as their Deputy President.

Ruto has been campaigning for Presidency since 2012 but so far he has not told us what he’ll do for us, he has only shown us through looting, insults and lies.

Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, William Samoei Ruto says that he “admires Yoweri Kaguta Museveni” of Uganda. He admires a man who hates any voice of reason. He admires a man who has been in power for 32 yrs. He admires a man who has plundered his country to its knees!

DP Ruto is a disgrace. Considering what Uganda is going through right now, it’s very insensitive for him to go to Uganda and start heaping praise on Museveni leave alone riding in the same car.

Birds (bads of a feather).

William Ruto has tormented and tortured Kenyans for along time. He has now gone international. He’s is seen here moving around Kampala with the abductor and tormentor of an innocent man @HEBobiwine. Indeed, birds of a feather flock together. #FreeBobiWine pic.twitter.com/f8bap7l7jc

At the high-level conversation organised by the African Strategic Leadership Centre, Ruto rooted for the growth of East Africa banking on the creativity and innovation of the youth in the region.

“The young people are almost ahead of us in the matching to creativity, innovation among others. We are not pushing them, they are pulling us,” he said.
