Out of over 2,000 law students who sat for the pre-entry exam to enter the coveted Law Development Centre (LDC), only 624 made it according to the admission list released today, September 3.

This means that at least 1,376 candidates representing over 68% failed the test.

As compared to last year, the percentage of candidates failing the bar exam has drastically gone up from 55% last year.

According to exclusive sources, only 350 candidates had initially passed but the pass mark had to be lowered by the Law Council to increase the number LDC needs to fill her other campus in Mbarara that is opening this month.

LDC says it will allocate the admitted students their respective campuses on Thursday this week.

Some of the successful candidates who talked to Matooke Republic decried the “hardness” of the exam but were in a jovial mood for making it through.

“That paper was hard. Some of our colleagues cried in the hall. One of my neighbours barely wrote anything. But I’m glad I made it nonetheless,” Hilda Kansiime from Makerere University said.
