Rubaga South MP, Kato Lubwama.

With all the harsh comments from several of the entertainment industry stakeholders against the 14-point regulations that the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development released on Monday, a positive response from a drama actor cum MP, Kato Lubwama could be what the needs to hear.

The Legislator says the policies have been in existence since 1943 but have just been inactive adding that it was high time they were revised.

“Am wondering why people think these policies are new, they have existed since 1943. What Parliament is going to do will be just an amendment,” Lubwama explained.

Lubwama argues that the entertainment industry has been infiltrated with lots of masqueraders and it needs an urgent overhaul.

“The art industry has not been professional at all. We have all sorts of people, drug addicts, conmen, academic failures, and fake promoters among others. But now all those shall be eliminated since one will be required to have a license,” he says.

Lubwama however, urges the Culture Ministry to form an impartial Censor Board that will audit all kinds of art without bias.
