As the nation celebrates Valentine’s , the day designated for peopleto show love to those who matter in their lives, former Police spokesperson and now the force’s Chief Political Commissar Asan Kasingye has taken to his social media platform to urge Ugandans to show appreciation to police ‘for the good work they do despite the hiccups.’

”Dear tweeps, pl’se send love to the police this Valentine’s. True we haven’t met most of your expectations,  but we have saved lives & propertiesr –recovered missing persons, put off fire from burning properties, recovered stolen vehicles, restored peace in homes, etc. Show us love.” tweeted Kasingye

Given the long growing gap between policemen and the citizens, Kasingye could be said to be among the senior police officers who are trying to change the face of police by connecting with the people in society. The chief political commissar who said he expected ‘1% love’ must have been shocked by the love scores of Ugandans on twitter showed the police in response to his request.

Earlier on today, policemen in uniform were seen along some highways showing love to motorists. This comes at the time when many civilians say they have lost faith in the Ugandan police system .
