Bobi Wine’s trial is presently being conducted via videoconferencing –the accused is in Luzira Prison following proceedings on a screen

The trial of Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (aka Bobi Wine), on charges of leading a social media tax protest last year, is presently ongoing via videoconferencing technology

will not be physically brought to Buganda Magistrate Court ahead of his bail application hearing today.

Bobi Wine is on a video conference to make him get involved in the courtroom proceedings without leaving Luzira Prison.

Earlier this month, the Chief Justice Bart Katureebe launched the initiative sighting that it will help improve the work of the judiciary and also address the case backlog. For the prison department, they said it will help cut the transport costs of inmates.

Bobi Wine was today expected to physically appear in court for the hearing of his bail application. The legislator was earlier this week arrested around Mulago as he made way to the Police CID headquarters in Kibuli. He was later brought to court and charged with holding an unauthorized assembly to protest social media taxes.
