Uganda Cranes gets commanding win against DR Congo

Uganda Cranes managed to secure its first win at Africa Cup of Nations after 41 years. Cranes commandingly defeated Democratic Republic of Congo 2-0 in their opening game of Group A thanks to goals from Patrick Kaddu and Emmanuel Okwi.

Uganda’s next game is on Wednesday against Zimbabwe Warriors who lost 1-0 to Egypt on the opening day.

Speaker Rebecca Kadaga last week ordered the cancellation of Parliament’s contract with MTN Uganda, an arrangement where the telecom company was to wire fully paid-up monthly data with OTT worth Shs198 million to all the 458 MPs. Kadaga’s decision pours a relief to many Ugandans who had criticized the agreement blaming MPs for attempting to exempt themselves from a tax they introduced.

Two BoU officials remanded over inclusion of unauthorized cargo on plane

Two Bank of Uganda (BoU) officials Francis Kakeeto and Fred Vito Wanyama were on Friday arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court and charged with corruption and abuse of office in connection with the ongoing BoU currency saga.

According to the prosecutor, on April 26, 2019 while the chattered cargo moved from Belgium through France to Uganda, Kakeeto and Wanyama were assigned to carry out pre-shipment inspection of the printed currency. The duo allegedly allowed the inclusion of unauthorized cargo on the plane. They were remanded to Luzira Prison until June 25.

Ghanaian Singer Eugy pulls crowd at DJ snapoff Guvnor

Eugy performed in Uganda on Friday at Guvnor. He was the headlining act of the DJ Snapoff party. The musician who stepped on stage at around 1am got everyone on the dance floor when he performed his ‘Dance for Me’ club banger. And because the crowd loved the song he performed it twice amidst love screams of excitement from his loyal fans that sang and danced along. Eugy also performed Lolo, Tick Tock and Body.
