During his address on the progress of the Operation Wealth Creation tours Thursday evening at the State House in Nakasero, President Museveni reacted to the growing cases of ‘annoying of the president’ that critics such as Joseph Kabuleta and Dr. Stella Nyanzi are battling.

Museveni said ‘annoying of the president’ is a colonial law he used to only hear about.

“I don’t mind being annoyed,” Museveni said before adding that getting annoyed should not be treated as big issue because for him, it happens every day but he has learnt how to deal with it personally.

However, he said that police should only deal with individuals who tell lies and incite the public.

“Annoying the president is a small issue, the bigger issue is about those that promote hate speech. These must be dealt with,” he said.

Kabuleta was arrested on Friday last week on allegations of offensive communication against the Person of the President. He was released on police bond. Nyanzi, on the other hand has been in Luzira for over five months on similar charges.
