Three suspects arrested from Nasser road for forgery, found in possession of over 119 forged stamps for government agencies, hospitals, universities and banks

Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) in a joint operation with Police apprehended three suspects, a man and two women for forgery.

The suspects, namely; Ali Kimera Ssajjabi, Amina Nambalye and Hadijah Nakitende basing from Nasser road were found with over 119 forged stamps, academic certificates and transcripts from Makerere and Kyambogo University and nursing schools. Of these, 39 stamps belonged to commercial banks.

According to URA spokesperson Vincent Seruma, the suspects also had forged logbooks for motorcycles and vehicles which makes them key participants in the prevailing rampant car and boda boda thefts.

Among the stamps forged by the trio include URA, Police, UPDF, Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), Ministries of Defence, Works and Transport, Agriculture, Lands, and Gender, Labour and Social Development.

URA tweeted that the suspects also had stamps for local governments including Mityana, Deputy KCCA Mayors for Kampala and Kawempe, Luweero, Mpigi, Kaliro, Kamuli, Kapchorwa, Mbarara, Bundibugyo, Kitgum, Koboko, Buikwe, Mukono, Mayuge, Kayunga, Sheema and  Kamwenge.

Mengo Hospital, Mukono Health Center, Fort Portal Hospital, Malaika Medical Centre, Kitemu, Kasangati Health Centre, IMC Wandegeya, Mukono Health Centre and DHO stamp for Kyotera were also forged.

“And as the country battles human trafficking concerns, the trio allegedly possessed 14 forged stamps for Oman Visa Entry, South African Police Service, Zimbabwe Immigration, India Immigration and United Nations,” said Seruma.  

The suspects are currently in police detention as the forensics team examining their computer to see what else they had forged.
