Mixateens winners to be taken to Dubai for a literacy tour

The 10 students’ winners of the 2019 Mixateens will tomorrow August 30, 2019 jet off to Dubai for the first ever literacy tour.

The students that include; Bayiga Nalugo, Zakiah Tracy   (St Mary’s Kitende), Kugumya Blessing Elison (Bweranyangi Girls SSS), Biira Joyce (Mt St Mary’s Namagunga), Katusiime Kendra Kirabo (Gayaza High School), Nammombwe Juliana Frances, Ssempijja Palvin Gloria (Trinity College Nabbingo), Abeneitwe Tandeka Parvin (Caltec Academy – Makerere), Ndagire Kirabo Tyner (Kaboja Junior Academy) and Kuot Nyariak Kon Madut (Hana International School) will have an exciting experience in Dubai for four days.

The places the winners will visit include; Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, Dubai Aquarium, IMG, Dolphinarium, the beach and much more.

Mixateens was launched in June 2019 where students from different schools who bought copies of the Wasted Beauty were given a chance to be part of the competition that finally landed 10 of them a first ever Mixateens Literacy tour to Dubai. Mixa Publishing Limited wanted students to write stories that will change not only their lives but their peers as well.

With the tagline “Your Story Matters,” students had to compose stories from a variety of fields ranging from science, fiction, creativity and art among others.
