Gov’t should stay away from church but it should not tell the church to stay away from governance – Pastor Joseph Kabuleta

Earlier this week, Born again pastors and evangelists met President Yoweri Museveni and promised to back him up come 2021 general elections.

However, controversial city pastor Joseph Kabuleta has thrown a rant on government’s intervention in churches. Kabuleta believes government should not do any form of ‘businesses’ with the church. He adds that church leaders must be left free to express their opinions just like other citizens.

“The gov’t should stay away from the church but the gov’t should not tell the church to stay away from governance because everyone has a right to take part in the country’s politics,” Kabuleta said.

He recalled his recent troubles where he was arrested because of his social media posts “Joseph Kabuleta Weekly Rant returns,” in which he referred President Museveni as “a Gambler, Thief and Liar.”

“I didn’t get in trouble as a pastor, I got in trouble as a citizen who was trying to voice out an opinion,” he explained.

Kabuleta argued that every person has a responsibility to get involved in governance citing that; “If I speak about sports, I’m speaking to a specific group of people but if I speak about governance, I’m speaking to everyone.”
