With Yoweri Museveni being the longest serving president of Uganda, government spokesperson, Ofwono Opondo believes the ruling party National Resistance Movement resurrected Uganda by tackling almost every obstacle that was hindering the country from moving forward.

Opondo bragged that NRM’s long stay in power is because they can shoulder the weight of Uganda.

“Those who were in power for a short time couldn’t carry the weight of the state,” Ofwono Opondo said on NBS TV’s Frontline show.

He stated though NRM sometimes makes mistakes, small and big but they have always urged the public to make them accountable.

“I believe NRM has organs to contain behaviours of individuals,” Opondo said before warning the opposition by stating that, “NRM is not there to give you a chance to come to government.”

The ruling National Resistance Movement that took over power in 1986 has ruled Uganda for more than thirty years.
