What do you consider when you park at a fuel station to refuel? Is it the price of the fuel or the quality of that fuel? In these hard economic times, a sizeable number of people mostly care about the price and not the quality for they feel saving that Shs100 on every litre is importanter.
There are over 75 Ugandan oil companies that in the last three months have been selling fuel with sub-par standards all across the country and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources partnered with Uganda Bureau of Standards to name and shame them, and caution the general public about using their fuel.
The Ministry has since fined and revoked the operations of these fuel pump stations until they have explicitly written to the Commissioner explaining the actions being put in place to operate on the set fuel standards and commit never to breach them again.
According to the list which we have included herein, fuel pumps in Masaka and Wakiso lead the race of “Who can sell the most adulterated fuel?” in Uganda.
