During our days, schools were so strict on girls that they were not allowed to even come near the examination hall to sit for exams once found pregnant. These days, with the increased advocacy for the girl child to access education, this zero-tolerance policy to pregnancy to allow them at least sit for exams.

A 16-year-old girl (name withheld) has given birth while sitting for her Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) at Lufudu Primary School in Namayingo District.

The girl who first complained of pain to her teachers was accorded help when female teachers around realised that she was experiencing labour pain. They helped her push and she delivered a bouncing baby boy.
