In the past, businessman-turned-politician Peter Sematimba’s academic credentials have been a topic of discussion and scrutiny amongst the members of the public most of whom questioned whether the politician really looked at enough ‘blackboards.’

Sematimba has always come out to defend himself, saying on several occasions that he truly is very educated and that those that doubt his credentials don’t understand the American version of his papers.

To clear the doubts, the now Busiro South Member of Parliament decided to go back to secondary school and sit for the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) exams that kicked off on Monday this week.

Sematimba said that he decided to go back to school so that he can get the certificate Ugandans understand.

“When I was contesting in Busiro South, I was frustrated because of this certificate. My papers were from America and I was certified by the National Council of Higher Education but I decided to go back and achieve this senior six certificate that many Ugandans understand,” Sematimba said.

As Sematimba decided to go back to school at a later age, we hope we are not too late to send him a success card, because truly, it is better to be late than never.
