While addressing the media about the new developments at the Isimba hydropower project, Minister for Energy and Mineral Development Irene Muloni denied having any knowledge about the whereabouts of the said Shs24 billion that Speaker Rebecca Kadaga claims was embezzled.

Muloni refuted Kadaga’s ‘eating’ claims saying she is not aware of any money swindled from the Isimba Dam project because all the work is going on as planned.

“Isimba Hydropower plant and transmission line were commissioned in March but completion of the Isimba Public Bridge and Access Roads is scheduled for 31 December 2020,” Muloni said.

She said that there are established ways through which reports of corruption are handled in government and urged the Speaker to go through the lawful criteria if she thinks money was ‘eaten.’

Earlier this week, Kadaga told Parliament that Shs24 billion that was allocated to the Isimba Hydro power project to construct a bridge and a road that connects the district of Kayunga to Kamuli had been swindled.

Kadaga added that she informed President Museveni but nothing has been done to bring the ‘eaters’ to book.
