Kampala Central Independent Member of Parliament Muhammad Nsereko has urged the different opposition players who genuinely believe in the noble cause of Uganda’s change of power to do away with their ego and form a coalition as a way of shaping up for the 2021 general elections.

Nsereko says no step is too late in the struggle but the more they continue bickering within themselves (opposition), it helps President Museveni get stronger for the next election.

The former NRM member claims that no one in the opposition let be Dr Kizza Besigye or new kid on the block Hon Robert Kyagulanyi can single-handedly win an election against Museveni.

“When the opposition is split, I can assure you that the incumbent will win,” he says.

Nsereko says for years the opposition has only grasped the habit of jumping on every bandwagon but it has proved to be fruitless.

He states, “When you consistently carry on a message that does not yield results, you get hatred from the backlash.”

“We are stronger together and the issue ahead of us is the completion of the struggle. No one is kicking anyone out of the struggle. If one wants to be a Presidential candidate, he needs to let the country know early,” he adds.

On what the opposition has to do, Nsereko says they have to radically shift the power bases of National Resistance Movement (NRM) into their favour.

“Red (People Power) can only prosper in urban areas. You will hardly see any change in the rural areas unless we have a united opposition front,” he says.
