As the opposition is in endless closed meetings discussing the possibility of getting a sole candidate to stand against President Museveni in 2021 general elections, Deputy Government Spokesperson Col Shaban Bantaliza has said that it is okay for them to cause the alarm of change but National Resistance Movement (NRM) is here to stay.

Bantaliza said that NRM has used power so well that majority of Ugandans now believe they deserve more time to continue reviving the country.

“We, the NRM, are not the first political entity to take over power. There were others before us – but how did they use it?” Bantaliza said during his address in Kiboga where Museveni has kicked off the third day of this bush war trek.

He added, “The power that is in the NRM now is very precious power. It is something we paid a high price for.”

Bantaliza ranted that those who want to take over power from NRM do not know what power is.

“Power is not a charity for it to be given to anyone who wants to use it,” he said.

On the relevance of the 195km trek, Bantaliza explained that majority of the people participating are ‘bazukulu’ who do not have the history of what happened. And for this they have to be showed the wrath of sacrifice NRA soldiers went through to liberate the Uganda they are enjoying now.
