Government to construct 22 secondary schools in 22 districts in the 2020/21 financial year – Education Minister Janet Museveni

This week has been filled with several ministries presenting their budgets to responsible Parliamentary committees and elaborating what their plans for the proposed funding requests are.

Today, the Ministry of Education and Sports officials led by Minister and First Lady Janet Museveni accompanied by Minister for Higher Education John Chrysostom Muyingo, Rosemary Sseninde (Primary Education) and Hamson Obua (Sports) met the Parliamentary Committee on Education and Sports to present the Ministry’s 2020/2021 budget framework paper.

In the coming financial year, Minister Janet Museveni revealed that government plans to construct 22 secondary schools spread around 22 districts around the country. This is aimed at providing more education facilities to the ever-growing population of Uganda.

In addition to add, the Ministry will also complete ongoing works in 26 primary schools in 18 districts, and procuring and install lightning conductors 360 primary schools to curb the unnecessary lightning deaths in schools.

The Education and Sports ministry also plans to carry out construction in the centres of excellence namely; Bukalasa Agricultural College, Elgon and Lira Technical Colleges as well as Bushenyi Vocational Training Institution.
