Over 1500 PLE candidates have not yet received their exams from UNEB

Two weeks ago, the Uganda National Exams Board (UNEB) released Primary Leaving Exam (PLE) results for 2019 at Kampala Parents School, Naguru but some candidates have never seen their results until this day.

Head teachers of some of these schools have come out to voice their concerns about UNEB keeping hold of their results without giving a concrete reason.

UNEB on the other side claim that they are still investigating possible exam malpractice by these schools and after investigations, innocent schools will get their results and the guilty ones will be penalised. UNEB also said that some of these schools did not pay exam registration fees for their pupils, hence the hold up.

Meanwhile as this is going on, selection of successful candidates that will join Senior One in a week’s time was completed last week, and head teachers and parents of children that have not yet received their results are in fear of their children missing out on S.1 admissions.

Bushenyi District schools inspector Williams Ahabwe said that in his district, 115 candidates from schools like Kyamuhunga Central Primary School, Kiboona Primary School, and Bujanga Primary School have not received their results. However, he added that he is doing everything possible including going to UNEB offices to ascertain the reason behind the hold up.

Although this is alleged, UNEB Executive Secretary Dan Odong said that all schools that did not receive their results were notified about the reasons why, and that they are going to call them up for meetings on different days to explain themselves.
