Gen Tumukunde’s lawyer says his client is unmoved by the arrest, punches holes in Police statement, reveals ‘exact’ details for the arrest

Retired Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde’s lawyer Alex Luganda has this morning explained why his client (Gen Henry Tumukunde) was arrested last night while at his private office in Kololo.

Luganda first claimed that Tumukunde is unmoved by the arrest as he expected all this when he declared to stand for Presidency.

“Gen Tumukunde says that these acts are intended to intimidate him and his supporters but he is committed and ready to continue with his mission up to the end,” Lawyer Alex Luganda said.

Lawyer Alex Luganda and Gen Henry Tumukunde last night at Kibuli CID Headquarters.

Luganda revealed that according to the charge sheet he has been presented with, Tumukunde is being accused of the utterances he made when asked about Rwanda on a certain TV Show.

“Tumukunde said the issue between Rwanda and Uganda might on be about security but if he was Rwanda, he would support people in Uganda who are seeking for change,” Luganda said while trying to quote his client.

Luganda however said his client has denied the charges by olice saying that they interpreted his statements wrongly.

“I have seen a statement from Police but it is very flowery. It has lots of statements that I have not seen on the charge sheet,” Luganda said.

Early this morning, Police issued a statement revealing that Tumukunde was arrested for alleged treason. It reveals that the retired general made utterances in a series of radio and television interviews, which seek to foster hatred that might lead to inter-community violence, fomenting and glorifying violence in general.
