Kampala Central Member of Parliament Hon. Muhammad Nsereko has fundraised over Shs100 million which will be used to buy food and essential commodities for distribution to the starving Kampala residents.

“We shall buy food for some people on Monday. God bless you all. Words cannot explain my happiness but I pray that God rewards you,” said Nsereko.

Nsereko said in such challenging moments of fighting coronavirus, Ugandans should be united not only in the battle of kicking out COVID-19 but also those who are in position to help the needy should do so.

He urged government to not only issue preventive directives but it should come out with plans of how best Ugandans can sustain themselves in this situation. He said government should engage different institutions like National Water, UMEME, Commercial banks and Telecom companies among others and see how best they can offer their services at a reduced cost.

A number of legislators at this moment when Ugandans are partially locked down in their homes are reaching out to residents of their constituencies.  Vice President Edward Ssekandi gave relief food to people of Masaka, MPs Hon Luttamaguzi Ssemakula and Hon Francis Zaake also provided food to residents of Nakaseke and Mityana respectively.
