After President Museveni issued a ban on public and private transport as a strategy to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, Ugandan roads turned into ghost streets. Only vehicles with stickers are allowed to move.

However recently, hundreds of cars have returned on the road which let everyone wonder if every car on the road had a legit sticker. In the daily press briefing, Police warned individuals who had forged stickers to stay off the road or risk being arrested.

Jinja Road Police has today arrested two suspects for forging COVID-19 car stickers. This was after officers at one of the city roadblocks intercepted a driver only identify as Julius at the checkpoint with a forged sticker and on interrogation, he revealed who sold him the sticker.

On search, Police say they recovered 29 forged COVID-19 car stickers from Mugarura’s premises. According to Police, the suspects are now facing charges of forgery and they are currently detained at Jinja Road Police Station pending production in court on Monday.
