Hundreds of Ugandans are said to be stuck across the globe especially in countries like USA, China, and Dubai among others due to the current lockdown.

In an exclusive interview with NBS TV yesterday, President Museveni was asked on the fate of Ugandans stuck abroad who are yearning to return home.

Museveni said, “They should try to survive on their own for now.

“This was a war. The main camp which is Uganda was attacked with 41 million-plus people. Some are abroad, we are not going to say let them come back. We are concentrating on saving the base.”

Museveni revealed that as government, they will look into the issue after containing the situation here in Uganda.

“We shall look at all these groups of people abroad and see how we can help. If necessary, we shall bring them back and put them in quarantine,” he said.

Last week the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga directed the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sam Kutesa to present the government’s position on the status of Ugandan students and workers stranded abroad due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Kadaga said she has received several letters from Ugandans asking the government to evacuate them back home.
