People’s Government President Kizza Besigye has today delivered his ‘State of the People Address’ where he has accused the government of failing to tackle key issues during these challenging times of COVID-19 pandemic.

Besigye said COVID-19 has exposed government’s vulnerability of not being able to look after its people during times of emergency.

“COVID-19 has exposed that government has no reserves for essential items like food,” Besigye said.

In a bid to address the key challenging issues, the four-time Presidential aspirant has advised the government to foot bills of essential items of Ugandans that have been massively hit by the pandemic.

“Government must give each family Shs100,000 per month for the next six months. In addition, it should also pay rent, water, and electricity bills for the next six months,” Besigye said.

President Museveni is expected to deliver his State of the Nation Address tomorrow Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 2 pm.
