Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has sacked his deputy Sarah Kanyike. This comes after the expiry of the three-day ultimatum he had given her to choose whether to remain in her position or consider her appointment by President Museveni for the role of Director Gender, Community Services and Production in Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).

New Deputy Lord Mayor for Kampala, Doreen Nyanjura

Lukwago has now appointed Doreen Nyanjura as Deputy Lord Mayor. Nyanjura is the LC. 5 Woman Councillor representing Makerere University and Minister for Finance and Administration at KCCA.

Following the news of the nomination of Kanyike as one of the Directors at KCCA, Lukwago held an immediate press conference where he revealed that he received the news of Kanyike’s appointment with shock and he constantly checked various social media platforms to confirm the news. He asked Kanyike to reject President Museveni’s nomination but she has since not come out to do so.
