How do you imagine spending your wedding night behind bars? Well, Uganda Police wants to make this possible for couples and guests that are not observing social distancing guidelines on their wedding reception.

Police Spokesman Fred Enanga says that starting this weekend, Police will raid hotels and other popular wedding reception venues like gardens to arrest people who are not observing social distancing.

When the country went on lockdown to avert the spread of the Corona virus in March, President Yoweri Museveni put a ban to big wedding gatherings that he called “hexagonal” saying that those who cannot wait should hold “scientific weddings” with a few close family members advising that it should be the newlyweds and their parents.

However, numbers of wedding guests have been swelling in the recent past, especially after hotels and restaurants were allowed to operate.

“A wedding reception should have about 10 people,” Enanga said.
